Chloe Rice named Metro Sports Report Athlete of the Week

Rice, a 5-foot-10 guard, is one of the top young basketball players in the state. She had a career high 28 points in a 58-56 loss to Clear Creek-Amana and is averaging 11.5 points for the 9-3 Marion Indians. Rice is already being followed by NCAA Division I colleges who might like to recruit her, including several of the top schools in Iowa. Rice is averaging  3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.1 steals and 1 blocked shot for Marion. She is an excellent free throw shooter, having made 40 of 43so far for 93 percent.


Brendon Manning Named Metro Sports Athlete of the Week 

Manning, a 6-foot-4 forward, is one of the most improved basketball players in the Metro area this season. He averaged just 3.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in 11 games last year and missed the second half of the campaign with a broken ankle, but he has become one of the leaders for the Cougars this year. Brendon has helped Kennedy to a 6-3 record, while averaging 13.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
